Lydia had never seen an ELVIS impersonator or had had any desire to do so since she had seen ELVIS twice in concert in the 1970’s. A very good friend, Natalka signed them both up for a musical seminar on Sat. Oct. 13, 2018 at the Millburn Library in Millburn, NJ. On a beautiful Fall sunny afternoon Lydia thought “Why not?”
Ruben Castillo, an award-winning ELVIS impersonator brought the spirit of ELVIS and his music to life! In full costume and of course, multiple scarves, he recreated the life and music of Elvis Presley along with a Q & A, as well as audience participation. It was absolutely a joyful afternoon full of music, trivia and nostalgia. The audience had immensely enjoyed the show and no one wanted it to end.
It was at this musical celebration that Lydia solidified her A-ha moment.
WHAT IF…. WHAT IF?
Afterwards, walking to the parking lot Lydia invited Ruben and his lovely wife Patrice for lunch at a local eatery in Millburn. It is here that Lydia shared with Ruben the fact that she was a songwriter and had always felt a great regret that not one song of hers would ever be recorded by ELVIS. (ELVIS died in 1977 and Lydia recorded her first song in 1981.) What if Ruben, in that ELVIS style, would one day record one of Lydia’s song. Ruben graciously agreed. Well, one day and WHAT IF…became a reality!
Now we know, and it goes something like this…
